Gold Coast Day Trips

The Gold Coast has a wealth of sites, journeys and experiences, all of which can be seen in a day.  You will need to do a little planning and be ready for fun.

Breakfast:

Great eateries on the Gold Coast can be found in the restaurant strips of Tedder Avenue, Cavill Mall and Chevron Renaissance, the Broadbeach Mall and the foreshore at Coolangatta. Life starts early every morning on the Gold Coast so you will see legions of people out walking as early as 5am in summer.

Sight seeing:  

A good place to begin is a trip to the top of the Q1, the world’s tallest residential building. From the amazing Qdeck, on the 77th floor, you can take in panoramic views of the entire Gold Coast.  Tickets, $18.50, a family pass $47. Check out where you want to go next.

You can hire a runabout boat and fish in the canals or just cruise the Broadwater. There are boat hire shops at Marina Mirage, Isle of Capri and the Broadwater. Alternatively, you can jump aboard any number of canal and Broadwater cruises and let someone else do the driving and the cooking!

If you want to talk to the animals, make the journey to one of the Gold Coast’s nature reserves. Located at Currumbin is the world-famous Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary. Visitors can feed the birds, hug a Koala and experience snake and bird shows daily. David Fleay Wildlife Park showcases native animals in their natural environment and educates visitors and draws attention to the need to conserve our wildlife.

Evening:  

If you need a break at the end of the day, sit back and grab a movie at one of several cinema complexes or walk the beach at sunset before you head out of dinner at one of the Coast’s top restaurants.
